WELCOME TO THE 2018 HETI CONGRESS IN DUBLIN, IRELAND

On behalf of Festina Lente, Horse Sport Ireland and the Equine Facilitated Education and Therapy Association (Ireland), I am delighted to welcome you to the 2018 HETI website which will provide you with a comprehensive overview of all matters as they relate to the 2018 Congress, entitled ‘Striking the Balance’. That this congress should be taking place in the Royal Dublin Society Ireland which is indeed most apt given its long legacy of hosting the world famous ‘Dublin Horse Show’.

Primarily, this congress aims to achieve 3 key objectives; firstly, to allow like-minded people meet, network and learn from each other’s experience, interests and expertise. Second, to bring together the latest research as it measures the benefits of Equine Facilitated Programmes for people and also how Equine Facilitated Programmes impacts on equines. Finally, we aim to provide all attendees with a lasting experience of the warm hospitality of the Irish people.

This is the first time that Ireland will have hosted this congress and we feel privileged to be able to host what we expect to be a memorable experience for everybody.
Sincerely,
Jill Carey
Chief Executive Officer
Festina Lente

Striking the Balance

Achieving a balance in life is a topic that is receiving increasing levels of attention and spans the international and national contexts. Whether this is trying to manage the world’s natural resources with man’s growing needs or individuals trying to maintain a better balance between work, leisure and family. Better balance is something that resonates with most people.

The proposed theme of the 16th International Congress of Equine Facilitated Programmes 2018 in Ireland is ‘Striking the Balance’.

Fresh Start

Fresh Start is a new element to the HETI Congress where were will examine the area of rehoming rescue horses. With patience, understanding, commitment, and of course skill, rescue horses can be rehomed, not only as ‘pets’ but as working horses in equestrian centres such as Festina Lente, as leisure horses, or as riding club horses. Rehomed horses find a new lease of life giving hours of pleasure to those fortunate enough to ride them and work with them. We hope this will be a legacy of HETI 2018

The Venue – Royal Dublin Society, Ireland

The Royal Dublin Society is the name given in 1820 to an organisation which was commonly known as the ‘Dublin Society’ and which was founded on 25 June 1731 “to promote and develop agriculture, arts, industry, and science in Ireland”

Since its inception in 1731, the Royal Dublin Society has grown from a small gathering of visionaries into one of Ireland’s most influential bodies.

The Society, uniquely, has 10 multi-purpose congress and exhibition halls, breakout rooms, an outdoor stadium, several concert venues, meeting rooms, bars, restaurants, Wi-Fi throughout the venue and 2,000 car parking spaces. The sheer size and scale of the RDS makes it extremely flexible and easy to tailor to individual client needs.
